Andhra Loyola College started the Department of Biotechnology in the academic year 2006.
The Department offers MSc Biotechnology and BSc (Biotechnology, Microbiology and Chemistry). The department is run by efficient and well qualified staff work under the apt guidance of experienced and encouraging Vice Principal (PG) - Rev.Fr.Dr.Rex Angelo SJ. Some of the salient features of the PG Biotechnology department are as follows.

  • Avails well-equipped laboratories of Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, Plant tissue culture and Biochemistry.  
  • Promotes all round development of Students by encouraging and ushering them to participate in Inter-college, State and National level competitions and seminars.
  • The Department regularly organizes Guest lectures, Conferences, Symposiums etc.
  • Conducts Industrial tours every year to expose students to the Research and Development currently taking place in Biotechnology labs, firms and industries.
  • Every year the department assigns projects to students as part of their course work either in the college or other reputed institutions.
  • Most of the students got placed in reputed institutes and companies all over India.
